Robbie Williams has opened the BBC’s Electric Proms series with a headline show at London’s Roundhouse. He was accompanied by a full band and string section for the gig which showcased new material from his forthcoming album Reality Killed the Video Star along with some classics. Acts including Dizzee Rascal, Doves and Dame Shirley Bassey do their own Electric Proms shows later this week.

The Bodies singer caught up with Radio 1′s Scott Mills to tell him about how his comeback’s been going, his life with partner Ayda Field and what was behind him shouting, ‘I’m rich beyond my wildest dreams’ when he signed a contract thought to be worth £80 million back in 2002.

So i’m stood behind the Jumbo screen waiting to go and peacock…Dermot does a lovely introduction “Blah,blah,blah..lovely stuff and niceties…Ladies and gentlemen Robbie Williams!” At this point in the rehearsals the music starts….The doors open…..BUT LIVE…..The music starts…The Doors don’t open..
So we’re a few seconds in And the doors remain closed a few more seconds and they’re still closed…… Now i don’t know if you’ve ever had 10 million (plus) people ready to judge you on your first performance back in 3 years….

Williams to get branded iPhone racing game

Mobile games firm Artificial Life has announced a deal to make an official Robbie Williams iPhone game, due for release later this year. The as-yet unnamed game will tie in with Williams’ new Reality Killed The Video Star album, and will thus include music and artwork from the album within the game. It’s not a music game along the lines of the Lady GaGa Revenge and Coldplay Revenge titles made by US firm Tapulous, though. Instead, Artificial Life’s Robbie game will be a 3D rally racing title. Robbie Williams will open this year’s BBC Electric Proms. He will be accompanied by a string section, horn section and full band. The show features new material from Robbie’s forthcoming album “Reality Killed the Video Star” alongside some classic tracks, under the musical direction of Trevor Horn.

The first single from the album – Bodies – is classic Robbie, a mash-up of a grinding electro bass line with a gospel choir and heavenly strings, as the singer casts an eye over modern life. Read the rest…

Robbie To Perform At ARIA Awards

Robbie will be appearing at this year’s ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Awards as a special guest performer. Those of you in Australia are in for a treat when Robbie takes to the stage later this year on Thursday, 26th November at Sydney’s Acer Arena to give what will be the only live Australian TV performance of his soon-to-be-released single, Bodies. Nine Network will be broadcasting the awards ceremony on the evening, or you can tune in to the encore screening on MTV which will follow the event. (source: robbiewilliams.com)
