Take That are back for good

Take That survived feuds and solo stumbles to top the charts again. Here they talk about Robbie, relighting the fire, and why success is sweeter the second time around.

Take That in Los Angelesby Alan Jackson/ Times Online

A pop track plays at bird-scaring volume as four men walk back and forth across a rooftop in downtown Los Angeles, singing to the sky. A helicopter circles noisily overhead, its onboard cameraman documenting their every move and expression. Here is the biggest and best of all Britboybands, the one that came back to be a man band, filming the video for Greatest Day, first single from a new album that by Christmas will be inescapable in British high streets and on radio. “Mad, this,” notes one ripe Mancunian voice in a moment of quiet between takes. Looking out across the expanse of asphalt and assessing the 30-storey drop to the street below (there’s no wall or barrier to prevent anyone just stepping off into infinity), three similar accents murmur their assent. But then the music starts up again and the helicopter prepares to swoop back in. Dutifully, Take That go back to work. Read the rest…

New album in 2009!

News, Records 11 Comments

Robbie Williams will release a new album next year, his manager has claimed. The singer has been out of the spotlight and living in Los Angeles from some time, amid reports that he has become obsessed with UFOs.

However, Tim Clark, who works with Robbie, says he has heard some of the music that is expected to follow-up 2006′s much derided “Rudebox”. He said: “I would certainly hope that a new album will be coming next year. There are never any guarantees but that’s what we would hope. “He’s been writing and we heard some wonderful stuff. I was with Robbie last week. He was at home and he was writing songs and he played some of them to us”, explained Clark. (source: yahoo.com)

Robbie Williams’ girlfriend left

Gossips 7 Comments

Robbie Williams‘ girlfriend left him because of his obsession with aliens, not his new album, a new source has claimed. The couple are said to have ended their 14-month romance earlier this month, with sources close to the former Take That star claiming it was because he was concentrating too much on his new album.

However, a new source has told the Sun, it’s his research into UFOs and alien life forms that actually sucked up all his time: “He has become more obsessed than ever recently with aliens. Some nights he would stay up till daylight and not go back to bed. I think the break could be permanent – they’ve been having ups and downs for a while. “Robbie is such a generous guy. He gave Ayda everything but he never seemed to take her out for dinner much like most normal guys dating a sexy girl like Ayda would.” (source: fametastic.co.uk)

Robbie Williams’ gorilla disguise

Gossips 3 Comments

Robbie Williams has made his first public appearance in three months – wearing a gorilla suit.

The reclusive star has spent the entire summer holed up in his Los Angeles mansion, but emerged yesterday (23.09.08) wearing the outfit, and a pair of sunglasses, which he had purchased from a local fancy dress store. The shop manager said: “He spent a long time trying various costumes before he chose the gorilla suit and bought it for $60.”
Robbie – who recently split from long-term girlfriend Ayda Field – insisted on changing into the bizarre outfit before leaving the shop, and then strolled around Hollywood holding hands with a mystery woman.

The ‘Angels’ singer has become increasingly obsessed with aliens in recent months, and friends are said to fear for his mental state. Ex-girlfriend Tara Palmer-Tomkinson said: “Of course I’m worried for Robbie. He’s a genius and when you’re that smart and have been in the public eye for so long you want to escape.” It is believed the 34-year-old star’s fascination with UFOs was a major factor in his split with Ayda.

Robbie Williams ‘becoming a recluse’

Personal life 11 Comments

Robbie Williams has become a recluse in recent months, according to his friends in Los Angeles. The pop singer was previously a regular on the city’s nightclub circuit, but has been shunning his old associates and spending more time at home with girlfriend Ayda Field.

“I haven’t seen Robbie for ages,” one pal told the Daily Star. “The last time I did, he was sporting an awful Robinson Crusoe style beard and looked as if he hadn’t had a bath in days.” Another source added: “We all know he’s an incredibly talented showman when he’s on the stage and on the hip US club scene. But perhaps it’s just that Robbie is so in love with Ayda he hasn’t got time for clubs any more.”

Williams decided to move across the pond in 2006 following criticism of his Rudebox album. He has since revealed that he enjoys being able to live a normal life in LA, where he is relatively unknown. (source: digitalspy.co.uk)
