The Angels singer was in Manchester for the opening night of We Will Rock You, the popular show based on the songs of rock legends Queen. Wilkes, is starring in the show, which is embarking on a UK tour opening at the Palace Theatre. Despite eschewing the red carpet for the venue’s most discreet stage door, the former Take That star was spotted by hordes of waiting press and fans as he disembarked from a large black bus with the letters VIP written on the side. When Robbie Williams and David Walliams recorded a sketch for Red Nose Day, the pair reckon they checked out each other’s tackle. ‘I think they’re much of a muchness. Seriously they are very equal,’ says the former Take That star. ‘It was 2-2. Williams has bought a $16 million country estate said to be criss-crossed by mystical energy routes that attract flying saucers. His 71-acre mansion is also in the centre of crop circle country – and just yards from an HQ for thousands of people who investigate the field indentations every summer. Britain’s The Sun newspaper reports the singer, who is obsessed with UFOs, is also within easy reach of a flying saucer study group called SUFOR near his new home in the tiny village of Compton Bassett, Wiltshire.
