Robbie has the last laugh as Rudebox is nominated for songwriting award

Music, News, Records No Comments

He was criticised, laughed at and flat out told that white boys from Stoke shouldn’t rap. Now Robbie Williams is having the last laugh. Rudebox, the song that saw Williams panned by critics, has been nominated for an Ivor Novello songwriting award. Released last year, Rudebox was a new sound for the singer and it went down like a lead balloon. Not only was the single roasted, the album Rudebox failed to sell as expected and was named the worst album of the year at the NME Awards.

Recently out of rehab, Williams will no doubt be pleased to hear of his nomination in the International Hit of the Year category. He is up against Madonna and her single Sorry and the Scissor Sisters’ hit I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’. Other nominations for the songwriting and composing awards include Amy Winehouse for Rehab and Arctic Monkeys for When the Sun Goes Down. Casino Royale has been nominated for Best Original Film Score. The awards will be held at The Grosvenor House hotel in central London on May 24.

Robbie Williams Moving On With Life Post-Rehab

News, Personal life 6 Comments

Los Angeles, CA (BANG) – Robbie Williams says he is getting his life “back on track” after checking out of rehab.

The “Rudebox” singer says all is well following his recent stint at Arizona’s Cottonwood de Tucson clinic, where he was treated for addictions to prescription drugs and caffeine.

He told Entertainment Weekly: “It’s going really good. I got the train back on track. I’ve been sober since February 13 and look at me – I’m brand spanking new again.”

Robbie, 33, also acknowledged that “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell was right to tell him to “get a grip” when he entered rehab.

He said: “I’ve met Simon a few times and I like him. He is usually right about things. He’s probably right about that.”

Robbie checked into Cottowood on February 13 – his 33rd birthday. He left almost a month later on March 3 and has since been seen looking well and partying in Los Angeles.

The star – who has lived in the U.S. for two years – insists he does not want to be a success in America because he enjoys the freedom that comes with his relative anonymity.

He explained: “I decided four albums ago I like living here. I’ve got to the point where I’m famous enough to enjoy my celebrity and do fun stuff without all the crap that goes with it.

“And it would be insane to invite what I have in the rest of the world into this country. So I’m not going to bother promoting or releasing records here.”

Robbie Williams’ Pesci threat

Gossips, Personal life No Comments

Robbie Williams was left terrified after his neighbour Joe Pesci threatened him with a golf club during a furious bust-up.

The 64-year-old actor saw red when Robbie invited his friends over to his Los Angeles home for a game of soccer and they blocked Pesci’s driveway with their cars.

Pesci stormed out brandishing a club, ranting: “Which one of you motherf***ers blocked my drive?

“If you don’t move in 30 seconds, I’m going to smash your windscreen.”

Robbie – who has a soccer pitch at his home and holds weekly matches – initially thought his Oscar-winning neighbour was joking, but quickly realised the star was serious and ordered his friends to move their vehicles.

A pal of the ‘Rudebox’ singer compared the row to a scene from ‘Goodfellas’, in which Pesci played psychotic gangster Tommy DeVito.

The friend told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “It was pretty terrifying in ‘Goodfellas’ when Pesci’s character flew off the handle. Imagine seeing it in real life. Robbie has never had any sort of dispute with his neighbours before and has now given his friends strict instructions to steer clear of Pesci’s driveway.

“One of the things he really likes about Los Angeles is the anonymity – big showdowns are the last thing he wants.”

Blast from the Past- Robbie William’s ‘Feel’

Music, News No Comments

Released in late 2002 from Robbie Williams’ fifth studio album “Escapology,” the song “Feel” became Williams’ biggest international hit, selling over four million copies worldwide and reaching the top 10 in every European country. The video, featuring Williams and actress Daryl Hannah as on a western ranch, managed to attract attention in the United States, leading radio stations to play the track and allowing the song to become one of Williams’ rare top-charting singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Feel” was written by Williams and frequent collaborator Guy Chambers. The track was recorded as a demo, but when Williams started working on the album and tried to re-record the vocals, he disliked them. He included the demo version on “Escapology,” and released it as the first single.

“Feel” is a beautiful song – a mid-tempo ballad about a man’s desire to feel love. The lyrics are well-written, and the song itself is wonderful for those who are getting older and longing for soul mates and lovers. For readers who have heard about Robbie Williams’ success and music should definitely consider this song to be among his best, including “Millennium,” “Rock DJ,” and his signature song, “Angels.” Williams is currently enjoying success in the UK and other countries in Europe with his newest album, “Rudebox,” featuring the title track, “Lovelight,” and his current single “She’s Madonna.”

Robbie’s back for good!

Gossips, Take That No Comments

Robbie Williams is ready to reunite with his old Take That pals, the Daily Star can reveal. The Angels idol is “thrilled” that his former group are enjoying huge success with their album, Beautiful World. And Robbie insists a comeback with the world’s biggest boyband “will happen”. In a sensational move, he said he now can’t wait to perform with Gary Barlow, 36, Jason Orange, 36, Howard Donald, 38, and Mark Owen, 35.

Robbie, 33, has just had a stint in a rehab clinic in Los Angeles, where he was treated for an addiction to prescription drugs. Now he is getting his life back on track by penning a catalogue of new songs. He’s also been working with a series of top producers in America and is said to be “putting his all” into creating a worldwide hit record. Last night his proud mum Jan, who has supported her son through his battle with drink and drugs, opened her heart exclusively to the Star. She confirmed that Robbie wanted to reunite with the band which first shot him to stardom, thanks to hits including Relight My Fire.

Drugs counsellor Jan, 56, said: “He’s thrilled at how Take That have come back. “On the question of him doing something with them, I feel that will happen. It would be something he wanted to do. “I’m thrilled that, out of all the negative stuff that happened in the past, there’s now something great happening. “Take That were excellent when they were all together – and they are excellent now.” And former bandmate Jason, who was Robbie’s best pal before the band split in 1995, said he would be welcomed back.

Jason said: “Maybe it’s my romanticism, but I think if we do future albums it’s inevitable Rob will sing with us.” Jan – the inspiration behind Robbie’s hit Angels – has revealed she flew out to LA to be there when he left the £700-a-night Cottonwood Clinic on March 6. And she told his army of fans not to worry, because he is getting his life back on track. She said: “He’s fine. He’s on a good road to recovery. “He’s enjoying his life and his football, and going out with the lads and having a laugh. It’s great to see. “He’s doing a lot of writing. He spends a lot of time in the studio. He’s in a very good place.” Pals of the singer also say he has been on top form since leaving rehab. He has since been hitting the LA club scene with a vengeance – but insiders insist his partying is no cause for concern. In fact, it is quite the reverse.

One friend said: “He’s very well and on really good form at the moment. “We’re just relieved that he’s so happy and back to his best.”

The ‘Rudebox’ singer – who recently completed a stint in rehab to be treated for a prescription drug addiction – was seen in the audience watching Heather complete a routine on US TV talent show ‘Dancing with the Stars’.
The pair spoke afterwards and it is alleged Robbie told the former model to ‘stay strong’.
A source told Closer magazine: ‘Robbie was blown away by Heather’s performance on the show and went backstage to congratulate her. The pair don’t know each other but Robbie really admires Heather for her determination.
‘He told her to stay strong and hoped she was bearing up well through her divorce.
‘Heather was surprised when Robbie turned up but was really pleased he offered his support.’ The 39-year-old blonde – who lost her left leg below the knee when she was hit by a police motorcycle in 1993 – wowed the judges by performing a backflip during her interpretation of the mambo.

Barlow slams publicity – seeking Williams

Gossips, Take That 1 Comment

Gary Barlow has hit out at his former TAKE THAT bandmate ROBBIE WILLIAMS for publicising his recent stint in rehab. Barlow is baffled by the press release Williams issued the day he entered The Meadows centre in Arizona in February (07) – to be treated for addictions to caffeine and prescription drugs – claiming he could and should have kept it secret. The singer says, “I’d have been embarrassed. If it was me, you’d never know.”
